WELCOME TO THE ADULT LITERACY ORGANISERS' ASSOCIATION WEBSITE!
The Adult Literacy Organisers’ Association provides collective representation of Adult Literacy Organisers who manage adult literacy and basic education services throughout the Republic of Ireland and under the auspices of Education and Training Boards (ETBs). Our work is guided by and is in line with the SOLAS FET Strategy 2020 – 2024.
Adult Literacy Organisers provide an essential service in local communities and help adults return to learning in a safe, friendly and supported environment. We manage a variety of resources and work in an integrated way across the ETBs and with a number of other agencies. We place learners in small groups or in one to one tuition so that they can learn at their own pace and in their own way. We provide the option of certification to students up to and including QQI Level 3. We also work hard with our dedicated group and volunteer tutors to develop innovative unaccredited programmes that help learners develop the skills they need to better participate in economic, social, community and family life.
Collaboration, learning and sharing is important to us all. This website provides a platform for us to share our practice, to publicise what we do and to promote excellence.
I hope you will greatly benefit from visiting our website. I also hope that you will take the opportunity to share your stories, your triumphs and your learning.
